Kingfisher Aluminium Box-framed Print
I’d walked this path every day, camera in hand, circling the pond for several months. Most weeks I saw a Kingfisher at least once, but seeing a Kingfisher and photographing one are not the same thing. Eventually my patience paid off on a bleak day in December. The cold and hunger kept this female Kingfisher (females have orange on the underside of their beak) on the branch ignoring me, and the shot I ended up getting was better than what I’d hoped for. Perched on a leafless branch with a muted backdrop, she is the only spot of colour in this wintery scene.
Patience pays off. Any Kingfisher would tell you that. Their hunting strategy is to patiently sit and stare at the water below waiting for a fish to swim below.
